Product Overview

The SATA12540 & 12542 3/8" Dr. 12-Point VDE Deep Socket is a precision-forged safety tool for technicians working on or near live electrical systems who also need extended reach — long studs, recessed terminals, or fasteners set back inside an enclosure. Each socket is cold-extruded from chrome vanadium (Cr-V) steel, individually insulated, and tested by German VDE to withstand 10,000V, in accordance with IEC/EN 60900. A chrome-plated finish beneath the insulation resists corrosion, and the 12-point hex opening seats onto a fastener at twice the angular positions of a 6-point socket — handy when there's limited ratchet swing arc. Available in 10mm and 12mm, both sharing an 80mm overall length.

Important: VDE-insulated sockets are a safety-critical PPE-adjacent tool. Inspect insulation for cracks, nicks, or wear before every use, never use a socket with damaged insulation, and pair only with VDE-insulated drive tools (ratchet, extension) when working live. Insulation rating and certification apply to the tool as supplied — do not modify, grind, or re-plate.

Warranty Terms

Lifetime Warranty. Both SKUs (SATA12540 and SATA12542) explicitly list Lifetime Warranty on their individual product pages — the fallback exclusion clause wasn't needed. This SATA socket is covered against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship when used as intended. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, use with non-insulated or power/impact tools, cuts or abrasion to the insulating jacket, normal wear, or cosmetic wear.
